Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally, she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010, Harris was appointed Attorney General of California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator, she advocated for reforms to healthcare and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal as well as the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She is best known for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
